On the acceptability of group acceptance.
Today we are analyzing a typical situation when a relatively large consignment of cargo packed in identical boxes arrives at a warehouse from a supplier. The boxes contain relatively the same load. Let's assume that these are bolts of various sizes. However, the weight of the boxes is different. The problem is that a single acceptance of cargo requires a lot of time and labor to process a batch of cargo. The question is - is it possible to accept group cargo when a whole lot of cargo is weighed and only one box of the same type is measured? Then the volume of each box will be correct, and the weight of each box will be calculated as the average weight obtained by dividing the total weight of the lot by the number of boxes.
It is clear that in the case of weighing one box and determining the total weight of the lot as the product of the weight of one box and the number of boxes, the measurement error will be high.
On the basis of the R&D conducted by J.S. Capital IG, in its WMS WLOGI, implemented and tested the technology of group acceptance of goods. Given that the number of cases where group acceptance is acceptable is quite large, the WLOGI solution significantly increases the effectiveness of the WMS.
